4th gen Driverside windshield wiper is like 2” to long?
Driverside windshield wiper is like 2” to long.
The recommended windshield wiper for a 4th gen TA is 24”
So why doe’s the wiper extend past the windshield by like 2”s?
Like it hangs well off the windshield basically ruining the rubber.
I rarely cruise in the rain but when it happens the wipers have to go on.
Am I missing something here?
I’ve been concidering stepping the driverside down to 22”s
Thanks for advice

you'r proballey right about the wiper arm being out of position could there be a key or mark on the motors cog. I've never messed w/ the wiper motor.
how can I confirm the motor is out of postion?
maybe I can pull the wiper arm off and rotate it inward a few teeth? I search videos to find out how to.
if out of position wound'nt this effect the stop point like being a tad higher?
my boats windshield wiper has a certain amount of travel measured in degrees it's referred to as 110 degree sweep link
do's anyone here have there wipers extending past the windsheild this can't be normal.
I did purchase the 22" wiper & arm but would prefer the recommended 24" usually I replace w/ elcheapo chinese refills from ebay. Thanks

I looked and found this pic in another thread.
I just checked my 2002 Firebird and they look like this Camaro pic.
Did you or the previous owner change this car from a 1993-1997 over to a 1998-2002 and also change the wiper arms? This isn't something I've seen before but I just found a youtube video where someone changed the wiper arms over and they look like they are sitting too high there too.

yes you are correct the image you post the top of blade is definity lower on the windshield about the same amount that hangs over the windshield.
I also observe the second bumpstop doesn't contact the wiper arm, can't see the first bumpstop.is the blade suposed to rest on both bumpstops?
wannafbody must be right about bent arm. I'll post image of the pass. side. can it effect the driver side or are they independant of each other.
costco had the 24" michiliness on sale around $7 each I think for all sizes.
edit: it's been a long time since I've even touched the wiper arms I do remember having diffaculty attaching to J hook of arm to wiper arm I remember there where a few options of attachments like for other vehicles, think that why I started using the el cheapo chinese refills and just crimped them down.
edit: who here use's rain X then haredly ever turns on wipers? also how often should the wipers rubber be coated w/ windshield cleaner fuild?I used to wash the car once a month even it where clean this is when I'd coat the rubber. now I don't wash as frequent probablly every 3 months or if caught in rain.
thanks Guys for advice I sort this out and report back.

I never specifically coat the rubber. I just wipe it clean. I do use RainX treatment on the windows and RainX washer fluid. I guess if you are using RainX on the window, you would wipe the rubber with the cloth that you used to apply the RainX. I've done that. Mostly because I had it in hand already as opposed to trying to coat the rubber.
I use Bosch Icon Wiper Blades (the ones labeled "Lasts 40% Longer" and "Extreme All-Weather Performance"). I have used the Goodyear and Micheline wiper blades from Costco and BJ's Wholesale. They don't last as long or work as well, but they are cheap and good enough I guess. I stopped using cheap wiper blades years ago. I still turn on the wipers in the rain.
There are 2 bump stops per arm. The wiper does sit against the one with the rubber cap, but not the plastic one. The pic above shows the plastic one and the washer nozzle is missing.

I don't get it! Look how these BOSCH Evolution 4824 Beam Wiper Blade - 24" "fit ???"
Maybe I shouldn't be going by when the wipers are "parked?"
The very last pic with the red arrows is intended to show the blade end isn't even in contact with the windshield when in the parked position?
Sorry about the pollen!

one more thing I can't remember where I got the tiny poker to clean the pressurized wiper fuild nozzle. if I remember correctly it was part of a small air compressor I once had. or is there a actuel tool for cleaning the nozzle? thanks

my problem is the top of drivers wiper extends a good 2" over/past the windshield. initialy I thought the wiper was to long. VIP is correct about the wiper only contacting the one rubberized bump stop.
I was able to bend the wiper arm reducing the distance inbetween top of wiper and lower windshield. I stopped bending was concerned about breaking the arm. I don't drive the car much an never on rainy day. so haven't tested my bend job.
was weird that the wiper extends past winshield basicely eating that part of rubber ruining the rubber dam.
in your last image the wiper appears low notice it hangs over the lower plastic WS cover.
