Default 98-02 door / t top trim question

Hello,
I recently purchased an 01 Camaro and it appears the previous owner put some kind of sealant spray? Or something around the body trim to keep the windows or T top from leaking. It looks awful and I would like to replace it. Does this trim just come right off? Is this part of the windshield trim that would only be replaced with a new windshield? Any links on what it’s called or where to buy?
Thanks in advance

That piece is called weather stripping and it attaches to the body separately from the windshield, but it's specific to that arrangement (meaning you need the piece for the t-top, and then the piece for the door/window glass). This is going to be different from a hardtop car. Often this sort of item is sold in a kit, but I don't know in this case if the t-top portion would be sold with the door portion or with the rest of the t-top section. I haven't ever needed to replace this on a 4th gen before.

Oh man!! That's just brutal. I sure hope you can find the weather stripping. Do NOT get generic weather stripping as it rarely is as effective as the original. I hope that someone has GM NOS available somewhere. If not, check Hemmings ads for QUALITY pieces and hope they work OK. They should because most old cars need weather stripping sooner or later and the collector crowd at Hemmings won't put up with crappy replacements. Good luck!!

You should take the door panel off and see if this is the problem that led the P.O. to do that. You could have bigger problems:

Does that crusty area by the A-pillar cleanly come off? I don't think the window will ever seal properly with that gunk on there.

I have a used OEM t-top weatherstiping (10336549) in good shape I'll sell for $100 shipped (contiguous US) if you're interested.
