dipstick?

dipstick?
hey guys at the risk of sounding like a total noob, my dipstick came of yesterday and i was trying to put it back on but i can't find the whole on the block where it screws back on to. does it screw onto the block or somewhere else??

Actually it just slides into the tube on the passenger side of the block. It should be pretty easy to find.

o no no no man iam not just talking bout the dipstick itself iam talking bout the dipstick and the tube on the passager side that goes all the way to the bottom side of the engine, you know the black tube. well that tube looks like it screws on to the block or to something but i cant find the whole on the block, where does that tube screw on to????

Hmm.... I don't believe I am following you. Are you saying the dipstick tube came out of the block? Do you have pics of what you're talking about? I may have to check out my car at lunch to see what you're talking about.

I don't know what to tell you man. Usually dip stick tubes don't screw in. At least I haven't seen one that did on the motors that I've worked on. I haven't gotten that far down on the LS1 though. You could try and use some 2 part epoxy or something like that. Maybe the guys in the internal or external engine part of the forum would have more knowledge. I'm at work right now, so I can't get at my car right now. Sorry dude.

There's a hex bolt right by the middle header bolts that will come off. Take a look and you should see this. It's quite a bit larger than the header bolts, probably about 14 or 15mm. When I put my headers on, i had to remove this one bolt in order to pull off the dipstick tube.
