The K&N oil filter number is HP1007 for the stock size, or HP2006 for the oversize one.

How does the castrol compare in price to M1? I'm picking up some oil tonight and will have to check out the Castrol.

I guess I'd consider your post at least slightly less worthless if Amsoil actually made a 15W-50...

Wow, I didn't know how good the Castrol 0w-30 was supposed to be! I think I'll switch from Mobil 1 10w-30 if I can find it. This also got me searching on how the Mobil 1 filters I use stack up to the K&N. Think I'll be switching there too.

Thanks for the info guys!

I'm not sure about in the US, but up here in Canada the Castrol 0w30 is almost $1 per liter less than M1.

No, that's the wrong stuff! That is the older stuff which is not even close to the same quality as the German 0w30. The old US made Syntec 0w30 was much thinner, it was closer to a 0w20.

Well THAT's the reason we have such a hard time finding GC and also the reason oil prices are so high... Patman is hording!!

Where do you get the containers to send analysis samples?

I think we should just have a sticky made that would show reccomened oils for our cars from 1-5 or whatever. I ask this because it is not always easy to find the GC 0w30 here in the u.s. And i have seen PATMAN's other best alternative suggestions which i believe were amsoil 5W30 and M1 0w40.

As long as it says made in Germany somewhere on it (no matter where on the label) then you've got the right stuff.

Patman, I run the mobil 1 5w30 synthetic that is what most people use. I also seem to have oil burning issue 1 -2quarts every 3k miles (oil loss through PCV system adn rings it appears) with this oil, just like you. What is the viscocity of Mobil 1 5w30 vs their 0W40 (which I cannot find anywear near me) vs the castrol german 0w30? I would like to go with a thicker viscocity oil to minimize my problem. I appreciate any input
