lt1 overheating

well i got a 96 z28 camaro 6spd with 110,000 miles on it at a red light it will try to over heat but on the high way it runs fine i cheaked the t-stat it was fine any idears what it can be?

Check ur coolant, im suprised it's not a bad thermostat...Buy a new one they're like $15, and umm.... U know LT1/LS1 run hotter than other cars right?

Relay fans tend to take a shat also !

Relay fans are a ok replaced t-stat still trying to over heat

Are you out of coolant?

I would recommend just changing the Thermostat though since that is probably the culprit.

Also look under the front bumper @ the radiator, these cars have a habit of scooping leaves and crap up onto the radiator, try to spray it with the fans out from the engine forward also. The only other thing I can think of is to make sure the systems bled and the water pump blades aren't trashed and inefficient.

by overheat, do you mean the check gauges light comes on? Or it just gets hot? The normal operating temperature for these cars is 220-235 degrees.

Turn on your AC the next time your at a red light. The fans should come on and the temperature should go down.

it just gets hot i guess the front air dam is on its all stock no cheak gauges come on on the high way it runs fine right under the middle line at a light its all most to the 260 mark
