German Castrol EMERGENCY!
Mike
Oil does not break down if it's just sitting there.
This is the first time I've tried this stuff... I'm currently running M1 10W-30 in the beautiful SoCal spring weather...
Since everybody here is interested in oil (especially if you've read all the way to here) I have a couple of sites you might like to see. I have already posted them elsewhere, but perhaps you've never seen them:
Z28 Oil Life Study - http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/s.../oil-life.html
Oil FIlter Study - http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/
Happy Reading.

I spotted the 5W-40 Syntec that's made in Belgium "BC". I really didn't find much on BITOG forum. It's probably comparable to the 0W-40 many people like, but I haven't heard much about it...

One of the employees was trying to act all omnicient with me saying "that is definately not what the manufacturer recommends"
I was like "I know, It sounded wierd to me too the first time I heard of using 0-30"
employee- "It's really gonna break down your engine, especially on start ups. I would
never put that stuff in my truck"
me-(without hesitation)" German Castrol is not a thin oil. It is 12.2 cst at 100*C. In other words, it is almost a 40wt oil" He was dumbfounded.
He then told me that it is green because it is recycled oil and that castrol just buys the oil from other manufacturers and markets it as there own. I had no hard evidence to argue that so if you guys could give me some I would love to go own him again.

Thats the exactly the same conversation I had the first time I got GC. He swore up and down I was going to ruin my motor and M1 was the best oil there is.
I went back a month later for some stuff I was like hey I don't have any more piston slap in the morning, no oil consumption ect. He was extremley confused.
I think it is an excellent alternative to GC 0w30 if you cannot find it.
