make sure your heads aren't hott! not just the manifold! You SHOULD NOT take out your plugs while the head is hott. It is an aluminum head and you will royally mess up the threads!!!

I did mine myself, the way I see it it's money going into my pocket if I hit a roadblock I keep trying just take your time and oh a good thing to have on hand also is a new gasket for the A.I.R pipe, if yours tears it's cheap and nice to have on hand as to not cause a second of down time. Do it don't be shy don't get frustrated there's so much help on here no reason to pay the man to do it for you. I'm swapping my shocks out I'd never do it if it werent for this site I also have the manuals for the dealership on hand worth every penny, but I've torn both my ball joint boots and within hours got a sugestion on here that worked and I'm back in the game as soon as my neighbor brings me the spring compressors he has. Take care and let me know if you need some info on here.

I promised myself that I would do all the maintenance on my car. I used to be the guy who took his car oil changes and so forth.

You don't want the car to be hot at all or even started recently, otherwise you will have problems getting the wires off and possibly breaking them. You want to change them on a cool engine.

And have a 6-pack of your favortite brew available when to tackle this task, it tends to help with fustration when you hit obstacles.

I did my plugs after I got the car in June. Only three issues: 1) The damn rear bolt on the pass side coil brakcet was a PITA (which when finally removed was promptly thrown as hard as I could across the street) 2) The #8 plug wire was major ***** to get off cause I couldnt get a good grip on it from above or below. Once off, I didnt have any issues getting the #8 plug out 3) I spent way more time making sure my new MSD wires were seated properly on the plugs. I was paranoid and insisted on 'hearing or feeling' the 'clicks' when I put the wires on. I did all from above. All in all not too bad.

ditto on having it be a pita to get those stock boots off. #6 and #8 both took alot of tugging in a confined space, it felt like they were glued on. i'm pretty confident now i could get it done in about an hour as long as the boots havent bonded to the plugs again...

that 1 back 1 was a pain. i ended up cross threading it and eventually shooting it out and having to have the hole heli coiled because the plug wouldnt thread back into it. so im kinda on the fence with this one. let some one do it and spend a good bit of cash or do it yourself and possibly mess something up and still spend the money anyway...it could go either way

I assume you have an LT1 .... and it is a job to change the plugs but a real b---- to change the wires. I agree with jkichline ... he is right on the time required as I have done this myself. Hey, get your hands dirty and do it your self. You are a carguy right ???
