i just changed my plugs yesterday
its actually easier then i thought
i was changing my headers out also, so it was SOOOO much easier than it would have been if the headers were on. Its actually not that bad. You can take out the oil dipstick, the passenger side coil pack, and then do those 4 (I get under the car for the last 2). And then do the driver side which is much easier to get to. I got under the car for the last 2 on the driver side also. Its hoesntly not that bad, but if your planning on ever doing headers, wait until you have the headers off because its very easy

I cut my own socket a few years ago for my S10 V8 covnersion. I just use the cut soket with a 3/4" wrench and have no problems. On my Z I just used a regular spark plug socket on some, added a wobble for some others(just the short one, like 1" overall), used a ratchet with a 3/4" socket to fit over the spark plug socket on some others. All you really need to do it break it loose with the socket, then do the rest by hand.

Change my own, after swapping the motor in there I hope I can handle changing plugs . Sorry though I can`t be of much advice on an f-body, never worked on one. My suggestion would be to let it cool and then try through the wheel well or from the bottom.

Teacher, that won't work on LS1's. It's for front wheel drive vehicles. I use that tool on venture vans and malibu's with the 3400.

Changing plugs on ls1's really isn't that hard. I can do it in about 20 minutes. Removing nothing, but the plugs wires and getting all the plugs from the top. I use a 3/8 ratchet, a 1" extension, a 3" extension, and a spark plug socket.

But...I've removed the plugs many times.

Also...I have headers and no AIR or A/C, so that makes it a lot easier too.

Definately do it yourself.

I change my own. I just get the rear passanger side from the bottom of the car. Works great if you can get your had around the header.

Did mine today and it took only 3 hrs would have been quicker but i was teaching this girl I am talking to how to do it. She wanted to learn plus she's cute so some time was spent checking her out lol. But it wasn't so bad as i was thinking my LT1 was acutally harder it seems. Plus i found out that i had 7 ac delco spark plugs number 41-952 and one that was AC-Delco number 41-985 and it looked worse than the other ones. Now she has all nice and new NGK TR-55's and runs alot better

You bought this car to learn about it, ask questions on this website, and do it yourself. It's going to be a pain the first time, but you'll have the satisfaction of saying you did it yourself.

I wouldn't trust any shop to change the #8 plug. To all those who are hesitant to do it, just get some tools and a jack and get into it. You are never gonna learn anything about it if you don't do it. Oh, and let the car cool down a little first and don't burn yourself on the headers:
