Default what is causing this???

ok well i just installed headers and offroad Y and dont have my rear O2s so they are just basically unplugged and hangin there, but my car was doing this also before the header install. my car is idling funny and when i come to a stop or shift from park the idle goes down to about 500-600 RPMs and it only seems to do this after it is fully warmed up, i will come to a stop and the RPMs sometimes shoot up to about 1000 or go down to about 600 but when im driving everything is fine. i removed the EGR and AIR and plugged the hole for EGR and took out the fuse for the AIR and capped the top of the valve cover where the AIR went to. im getting it tuned this saturday and hopefully they can fix it but could it just be the O2s are gettting to much air now that i have long tubes or could the throttle body be dirty and need cleaning??? and i also have new plugs but am using the stock wires until this weekend when they change them to LS6 wires.

and did your car sound like it had a big cam in it when you changed the headers, it just sounds like it chops like a cam it could also just be me on the sound part.

Please explain further.....

AIR does not go into the valve cover. It goes into the exhaust manifolds (or headers).

What exactly did you cap off (loctaion, description)?

my car idled funny for a lil bit after headers. AFAIK its learning a new idle, it won't happen after you drive it some. only reason my car ran choppy was b/c one of my plugs was screwed. id check your plugs and wires first.

My car always idled lower after LTs and no tune. While driving and letting it sit in D at a stoplight or such, my RPMs would be at 500.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the number 8 plug wire hanging off the plug.

the AIR system does run to the Valve cover on the drivers side in the back right by the 7th plug, the tube from the AIR system ran there and I read also on how to remove that stuff you have to screw a screw in or cap it and i capped it. i will get pics up sometime on my cardomain site to show you.

yeah but sometimes it goes low and sometimes it bounces up and down, and then sometimes its just fine. i dont think its the plugs b/c i just changed them and they are all gapped around .055 but do you think the wires could be bad i mean they looked fine when i took them off.

Pull the wires and use a multi-meter to find out what kind of resistance they have. That'll tell you pretty easily if they are bad. The bad wires will have some crazy *** value for resistance.
