I think it was Sears that has a set of easy outs (I don't know if that's what they call 'em) that you can get. They look like a socket except they have little blades inside them and you pound them on over the rounded off nut and back it off. I've never used them but that's where I'd start. If nothing else maybe it will grab tight enough to break the stud which would have needed replaced anyhow if it is cross threaded. Also you could try a metric socket that is a little smaller than the standard size socket. It will also need beat on the lug. Where you using the lug wrench that came with the car? Mine seemed to be a little too loose and would easily slip off the nut so now I carry a ratchet, deep well socket, and 3" extension. It fits tight on the lugs.

Holy **** that sucks... It's even worse that the nut is sunck into the wheel... Like you can't get anything other than a socket on it can you!? Without seeing it i dont know what to do! Good luck man.

Also maybe try and contact a local wheel/tire shop and ask them what they do. They probably deal with stuff like that on a somewhat regular basis.

Grab a smaller socket, hammer it on and it will break lose. You will not be able to use the socket after this.

That's the only way I've heard of doing it.

....but that sounds like it might work better. Never even heard of that sort of socket before. Might be worth a try.

For reference purposes here is the a link to the Sears web site for the bolt out kit. You can enlarge the photo to get a better idea of how they work. I had to use this on one of the 10mm head bolts and it worked great.

Those sockets we mentioned would have gotten the lug of in about 5 seconds... but I guess you got it off anyways.

I used one of those Sears easy out bolt removers on a rounded off lug. Worked great. I rounded the lug off by jumping up and down on the lug wrench they give you in the trunk. Thing slipped off and I took a real nasty spill on my driveway, slipped on the damn moss. Also destroyed the head on the lug wrench.
