Lets play name that squeak!

Ok well this is probably an obvious one but lets play anyway...

At idle it squeals fairly loudly and its getting worse, it gets worse as RPMs climb. Obviously its something with the accesory belt or pullies.

Should I just replace the belt or is one of the pullies probably squeaking so where should I start. Thanks guys

I bet, If you take off your A/C belt...then try... it will be gone.

Ok thanks, I will try that because it is starting to get really loud and annoying. I'll come back to bother you all if that doesnt work

One of my friends ended up having that problem. A very squeaky SS. Just changed the idler pully. I think it is possible to knock out the bearing part and replace just that though. Might be cheaper.

My tensioner used to squeek until I sprayed it with some silicone...it worked--I also did the other pullies too.

I've sprayed the belts and pulleys with some belt dressing it made it worse at first... But then I noticed that the squeal seems to go away almost completely after the car warms up. My dad said a bearing was probably going on the water pump since it goes away after the car warms up. I guess that makes sense to me.... sound right ?

My squeak was the AC tensioner pulley. Most of the time it will be your tensioner pulleys but there are occasions where it is a bad bearing.

Idler on my GTP was doing the same thing. Took it apart, put some grease on it and no more birds. For some reason that is just really friggin anoying.

I know the chirp sound your talking about and I have that too, I can live with that one for now but the one I'm looking to fix now is more like a constant Squeal, kinda like when you clog a vacuum cleaner and toast the belt but not quite as high pitch
