Question Vibrating Headlights!!

I have noticed that when i drive at night all the signs on the right side of the road look like a strobe light is flashing off them and finally realized it was my car causing it. I started looking at my lights when they are in the up position and found that my passenger side headlight is somewhat loose (able to move it in an up and down motion), and my driver side is nice and snug compared to the passenger. This problem has been going on for a while now and seems to have gotten a little worse over time. I also notice that it looks like a strobe light for a good half hour while driving and then all of a sudden it it stops then starts up again later on down the road.

Is there something that can be tightend to snug up that light because it is very annoying and i can't imagine what people driving in front of me are thinking with a strobe light looking headlight flashing at them. I did a search and only found a few topics on this but didnt find exactly what the cause was and how to fix/adjust it.

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it!

You can try and turn the motor by hand until the headlight is fully up. Remove the rubber cover from the motor first, though.

Are you sure its not your lights flickering...I thought I had the same problem too..turned out to be the common flickering light issue. I have seen fellow f-body cars drive along with the same issue. If your volt gauge is constantly moving and your interior lights flicker its probably that.

ya im sure its nbot my lights flickering, although they do that occasionally the problem is from a loose headlight. if you park the car and move the headlight up and down it creates the same effect as when driving down the road. like I said my driver side does not do this and is nice and snug but the passenger side is loose, so I am just wondering what adjustments need to be made or if something is broken that is causing this.

I don't know if this applies to your car, but my 95 had a service bulletin about the problem. There is a cable that is the stop when the headlight goes up, I just took the screw out of the end of the cable that attaches to the car and added a washer under the cable end and it tightened it right up.

I found the service bulletin on Alldata, you have to buy a subscription to get them. There was no pictures on the bulletin, if you crank up the light by hand and pull all the plastic from around the headlight you will be able to see the cable.

I've noticed that mine do this, except mine are opposite (passenger side is still, driver side vibrates).

The cover over the headlight assembly was loose, and the wind resistance acting on it while driving around with the lights up is causing it to move around. I tightened mine up a bit since I could actually see it moving while driving and it helped a bit, but one of the little clips that the screws go into is missing, so I couldn't get it completely tightened down. I can probably go take a few pictures if you are confused.

Hope this helps.

If all is tight and everything, it might be from the battery. It is called Parisitic Battery drain. It happens whenever your casr hasnt been run for a little while but like if you run it and then shut it off and go in and get groceries or something, it wont do it, cause it hasnt had time to drain. The radio and other electronic shtuff like that are constantly pulling off the battery. My car will do the same thing too for a few minutes but then go away. Just a suggestion though, i might be wrong but that is what i have learned from a TSB sent out on these cars awhile ago i printed off of Mitchell-On-Demand from school.
