Left front brake Bird like chirping?
I have a 98 ss w/ drilled rotors and at slow speed only in left front brake I hear chirping. Goes away when I hit brakes harder. Then comes back when I let off. Pads Ok and rotors ok. Could the caliper being hanging up on slide pins. Starts at about 5-10. If you are driving by a wall or another car though it's f--- annoying as hell ? what do you think ?

Do they still put those little wear indicators on the pads? They would usually start chirping like that before the pads looked like they were ready to be replaced. I'd just bend 'em back a bit, and plan to change the pads later.

Common causes:
- Wear indicators
- Pads installed incorrectly / wrong pads / too much play in caliper
- Pads loose in caliper - need isolator pad on back or disk brake quiet (blue goo)
- Stuck caliper slide pin, disassemble and grease, look for damage - often times the dust/grease boots are not properly reseated after a brake job.
- Caliper slightly contacting brake rotor - some aftermarkets just big enough to contact the brake caliper under cornering load
I had the last problem on my LT1's back brakes, and it was definitely the rotor rubbing on the caliper. The replacement rotor I bought was just a little bigger than stock and it would rub just a little in one spot after everything leaned into each other. Took me a long time to figure it out, but it was obvious once I began looking for it. One high spot on the rotor showed evidence of rubbing, as did the area on the caliper. Jacked up there was probably 5mm of clearance, so it was hard to find until I was specifically looking for it.
