The GC specs out much closer (in viscosity) to a 40 weight oil (at operating temps) than most, if not all 30 weights. Amsoil only makes a 0W-30 (Series 2000) and a 5W-40 (Euro Formula), no 0W-40 (for cars at least, they do make a "powersports" formula in that weight).

I just purchased 8 bottles with the M06 code and I found 9 bottles with the M02 code. I've also got a couple of M04's. All purchased in the last couple of days and all at local AZ's. I tried one Advanced Auto and one O'Reillys (sp?) with no luck.

What does the 0w-30 mean? Does the 0w mean something as well as the 30? I know it has something to do with viscocity but i'm not too sure. Would running the GC 0w-30 make our great ls1 engine last for many many many years to come?

The "W" refers to the cold weather viscosity of the oil. A 0W30 engine oil has the cold weather properties of a 0W oil and the high temperature viscosity of a 30W.

I just got an LS1 always ran the 5-30 syn mobile in my LT1. I have read about the oil stuff a lot. And last year read a bunch, but had trouble finding it.

I think I might try to switch over to 0-30W, I got a decent size cam and stuff in her. I have always used a k&n on my lt1 and love them filters.

i just bought 6 quarts yesterday at an autozone by where i use to live, they had one bottle of the old european formula the fat bottle type. and the rest was the gold formula, i bought 6 quarts of the gold formula improved european formula and made sure it said made in germany under the 0w-30 on the back and sure enough.the funny thing is the improved formula doesnt say European Formula on the front of the new bottle, but it is the european formula. And also if i run all 6 quarts do i need a bigger oil filter or will the stock size work???? and also what would be the part number if i need to go bigger??

You can still run the stock filter and use 6 quarts. I like the longer K&N filter though. Yes, the bolt sits a little below the oil pan but let's face it, if you get that close to the oil pan your biggest problem will probably not be a busted oil filter

Anway just went to 2 autozones. Got the 0-30W GC 5.49 looks like the new formula. And I got a FREE STP filter with purchase of 5 qts. I just going to use the STP filter on my 95 corscia beater car.

Well about to go change the oil. What was common to see in increase of MPG or Oil pressure? I got a ported ls6 tsp oil pump so thats pretty good on that front.

Well this 2006 K&N is the long filter for the LS1. My big filter for the LT1 was 3002 was like twice as big!

Thanks guys

Where? I cleaned out the Norristown, PA Autozone store back in Feb and was told they could not get anymore. I hope you get it cause the guy at Warminster told me there were 35 cases in the warehouse and he would get me 7 and never did. I went back 6 times. Turns out the guy was just a liar.

I'm still sitting on about 18 bottles but I want more. Not that I really expect you to tell me exactly where you got it as I wouldn't tell anyone if I found some more in my area. At least not til I bought it all

I picked up 5 bottles today. I had a hard time getting the 5 bottles though. There were other bottles mixed in and I had to pull them all out just to get these. There was another Castrol 0w-30 on the rack but it wasn't the german one, I hope this doesn't mean that they are going to quit carrying it. The only other Autozone that I know sells it is by my work but last time I went they were out.

I paid 5.49 which is the same as I paid last time

How often should the Castrol 0-30 be changed? Can it go longer than 3k miles?

Wow, you brought this one back from the dead...

My last oil change I had my oil tested and they suggested I go 4000 next time. It all depends on your particluar car. I know some people who go 7000+ on GC 0W-30. I don't put many miles on my Z so I will change my oil every 2 years which is about 4000 miles for me.
