Default Power steering pump leaking issues.

Ok, so. I started with a small leak. Then it got bigger and bigger to the point I was losing all my fluid in about a day. Looked like it was leaking from my pump, so I changed it. No fix. Leaking from the same spot. So I thought maybe the o ring went bad. So I replaced it. No fix. Then I thought maybe my resevior was cracked, so I got a new one. No fix. So now i'm SOL.

Only thing I can think of is that I have a clogged line making the pump get backed up, forcing the fluid to come out the neck of the resevior.

Is it hard to take the lines off of the car if I were to just jack it up? Or do things need to be moved? I guess it could be either line, huh? Going to the res, or coming from the pump.

Any ideas?

Mine is leaking from the neck of the PS pump reservoir where it connects to the pump, not from the coolant reservoir. Does that make a difference? And it's bad now. Goes dry in minutes when I turn the wheel.

Well, you could always spring for a new pump. There is a company called Turn One that sells an upgraded pump that is less prone to failure, because they revalve it. However, I do not know whether or not it comes with its own resvoir

oh, sorry, i thought that you meant the original resvoir. Wow, new pump and different res, and still leaking? I have no clue then, lol.

Are you sure the high pressure hoses are connected to the new pump properly?

I was losing power steering fluid a long time ago. Maybe it just got so gummed up that it's not even transfering fluid now, causing it to back up. I'll check it out today

Its not really year specific. It was option package specific. The WS6 and SS models have the cooler (I am sure the 1LE did too). Sounds like you do need to flush your system though. Its not really that hard to get the lines off. They connect to the rack with a nut, so no biggie. I am sure it will be messy under there, and will be a little frustrating to get to, but that is all. Good luck.

Oh and the Turn One pump is the ****! It is awsome. My bud has one on his T/A and when we hit the mountain, mine whines like crazy, but his is perfectly quiet and smooth. And it DOES come with a new reservoir.

Yeah, you're right, they just connect to the rack. I'll take them off and flush the system. hopefully one of them is clogged and it will solve my problem.
