bad rattle after going into 3rd gear while racing - what broke?

Im freaking out
I really dont know where to put this, but i just want to know what can cause this with my car. Tonight I was being tailgated by an LS1 Z28 Camaro and well, I had to run him. We lined up from about 15 MPH and both nail it, I had about a car on him when I ripped into 3rd and the car RATTLED real bad, like shook and just plain out scared the **** out of me. It was maybe for a second that this happened as I immediately popped it back into neutral and waited a bit, the car ran good for about the next 10 miles and now she's in the garage. I know I didnt throw it into 1st gear and not into reverse, IT WAS 3rd gear, but what can cause that nasty rattle? Im afraid I fucked something in my engine up, if that happened Im screwed

ypu busted my tq arm mount twice, sounds simiair to a rattle but more of a knock. but u can usually tell if its the front of the car or the back

The car lowered in RPM's, I was at about 6K when I shifted and went down to about 4K and the car shook real bad, like when you are about to bog out except 5 times worse. The car went into gear, it was just bizarre. NOthing sounds broken.

Without a more specific desription of the rattle or a closer guess on the location of the rattle, I'd think the torque arm bracket might have had an issue when the gear change slammed pressure on it. You babied it home so it didn't show it's a$$ the same way. If it was major "engine/tranny/gears"... it would continue doing it the whole way home. I think an item that is under increased stress under a hard shift is the cause.... torque arm/related pieces.

Well, a 'rattle' is what happens when your change slides around in the cup holder, a banging is anything mechanical. It had to of been a bad jolt to scare him... Least thats how I looked at it.

I truly dont know how to describe it. I was going maybe 15 MPH when I first punched it and I dont look at my MPH but my RPM, so at about 6K I shifted into 3rd and the car just simply shook. I really dont know how to describe it. It simply felt like a violent jolt, and scared the living **** out of me. Its not wheel hop, Ive done that and this was nothing like it. This is the best resemblence, when youre driving a Manual car and you dont give it enough gas so the car shakes unless you put the clutch in or give it gas, well it felt like that kind of shaking but 3 times worse.
Thanks guys. Drove it all day today and went WOT once, everything seems fine. Ripped straight into 3rd gear, idk, it was just bizarre.
I have never shifted into the wrong gear(2-1, 3-2 etc), how would that feel ?! a very hard downshift ?
Im not real good with cars

It would feel like you opened a parachute x 10 + screech and possibly + boom boom. The car usually dies at the same time, then will sound like a sewing machine when you start it up again.
It's possible that it could have been axle hop if you hit a pot hole or a bump in the road while the tires were spinning. Sometimes those can be extremely violent...I had some axlehoppin action so bad once that I cracked the plastic interior piece with the speaker that covers the spare and jack. I don't know what mph you shift into 3rd, but the faster you go...the less likely axle hop is.
