Default Help With Squealing Brakes

I just put on new brakes and rotors (Duralst rotors and ceramic pads). I took them off and covered them with blue permatex and they still squeal when I apply light pressure to the pedal. If I stab the pedal hard, they don't sqeak for a few applications, but it always comes back. Any ideas? What about the shims, do those work at all?

Take the pads back and tell them they squeak and you want a new pair. If you want to switch brand try rabestos semi metallic they they have been doing great on my car.

i agree. take the brake pads back and explain. get some new ones. because other than that, nothing should be making the squeaking noise. make sure the rotor is clean and there's no residue of old anything on it. clean with break cleaner throroughly then put on the new pads. clean again if necessary.

I didnt replace the rotors, but replaced the pads. Nothing will stop the squeal. I first put grease on the contact points, it worked for less than a day, then I used the stop sqeek stuff in the little packets, worked for half an hour. Its the driver side for sure. What could be causing this.

I did notice that there is some rust on the caliper piston, would that cause it. Also the paint is already worn off the back of the pad.

Guess what. The damn rear pads were the culprit. Kind of odd that they didn't do it until I messed with the front. A little grease and all is finally normal. I'm on my 3rd set of pads on the front, and still have the originals on the back, this doesn't seem normal to me but the car stops just fine. Anyone have any insight to this?

How worn were the rear pads?? A good rule of thumb is two sets or pads in the front to one set in the rear. If the rears arent wearing much you might have a caliper sticking.

Both pads on each rear wheel are worn evenly, but they still have at least half of the pad thickness left.
