Overheating with AC on
Overheating with AC on My car is overheating when I turn my AC on, when i'm crusing at 80 mph at 2000 rpm. When I slow down to 70 or 75 the temp goes down. The car doesn't over heat in traffic with the AC on. If I turn the AC off and cruse at 80 it doesn't overheat. I have no idea why this is doing this . Any suggestions will help thank you.
have a real good look at your radiator. get underneath and see if there is a plastic bag stuck on it. its a common problem. otherwise check the radiator really good and see if theres any dirt built up on it. if there is you need to wash it really good with a jet nozzle on your hose. basically it sounds like your cooling system is working but is only dissipating a limited amount of heat so there is some sort of restriction.
Check your air deflector under your car and make sure its not broken. It wierd how it overheats when your cruising down the road at 80 but not while in traffic. How does your a/c cool. If you have a bunch of crap clogging up your condensor it probably wont cool the best either along with overheating.

I had a problem (minor) where after 5 years of owning the car, and temps never moved from 210, suddenly I was getting up to 220. This never ever happened as the car always maintained 210 no matter what speed I was going, weather, A/C on or off didn't matter. So this was a signal something was wrong. I checked the Dexcool and levels, all good. Jacked up the front and looked underneath and found a large piece of newspaper covering 2/3rds of the condenser/radiator. Removed it, and I am back to good ol 210.
Check for obstruction and dirt on radiatior.
Check levels.
Cruise at 70mph in 5th instead of 4th. (want to see if you overheat which might mean the water pump cannot keep up at certain maintained rpm's.)
Remove and Replace Thermostat just for the hell of it. (cheap enough and easy to get to)

you might not have enough coolant in the car. my old car did that and it was because when i turned on the air conditioner the car uses more coolant to keep the engine cool. if theres not enough then it cant keep it cool. check your overflow tank for the coolant levels ill put money on it thats what it is. and try what keysplyr said
