not to sure but can i switch to this oil being that it is synthetic and my car has 67,000 and i believe that it has never had synthetic run through the car before. i got it 48,000 and i've used regular oil because if i can there are three Auto Zones not even 5 miles from my house that all have this in stock just checked it out today..

K&N makes a good filter. the mobil 1 filters are known to be good too. i just bought a Napa Gold (made by WIX) filter. i will be continuing to buy napa gold filters for the life of the car. they're $7, pricey, but less than K&N and do just as good of a job. i have a FRAM filter in there now because i bought it as soon as i bought the car. i'm never buying a FRAM filter again. their ratings are **** and it's about half the weight of this new Napa Gold filter. this damn napa filter is HEAVY. you can tell it's quality just by the feel!

FWIW, wal-mart supertech filters are rated higher than FRAM's. i believe they're actually made by STP!

Would you guys take the German Castrol over Amsoil? If not, I'll probably try some Amsoil. I've used Mobil 1 synthetic since I've bought the car. I now have 73k on the dial.

It's either Amsoil 0W-30, or GC 0W-30.

EDIT: I just got 5 quarts of the 0W-30 oil, and probably either going with a K&N filter *on my car now* or a NAPA Gold.

GC 0W-30 hands down, bar none. it outperforms all oil tested, yet it is over 2 dollars a quart less money. i'd never **** away my money on any of amsoil's stuff. IMO they're all marketing hype. look at fram. fram is supposed to be this great brand for oil filters with their "pay a little more now or pay a lot more later" slogan and here, wal-mart supertec filters outperform them! amsoil = marketing. i've seen oil tests between amsoil and competitors and a guy lost 8hp by going from mobil 1 0W-40 to amsoil...yet amsoil was still rated the best when they barely outperformed in other area (and all of amsoil's tests run against the smallest brands with totally different weights!)

look at amsoil's tests. they'll test their 5W-30 with mobil's 0W-40, pennzoil's 5W-50, castrol syntec's (not the made in germany kind, the mediocre made in america variety) 10W-30...they don't even test the same classes of oil! stay away from amsoil.

so true. 0w30 user here w/ wix filters. Since advance auto stopped carrying redline i've used this.

I just ordered mine yesterday. All you have to do is sit there and realize this oil goes well past 3k miles and then you realize its really not anymore expensive than anything else. it just feels like it when you drop 50 on oil. Im looking forward to the switch and post about any difference i can tell

Anyone here from Dave Stewart on the outcome of his meeting RE: Lower GC prices?

My luck I'll order up a couple cases - only to have him drop the price or offer a deal immediately afterwards!

i haven't heard anything and i'd really rather not harass him again. i guess he'll get back to me if and when he feels like it. i just don't want to be "that guy" - the guy that upsets him every time he sees an email from me in his inbox

if anything, prices will be going up, not down. according to him, castrol is increasing prices across the board. that means it'll likely go up at autozone too i need to raid the place while i'm still on this internship...i just wish i wasn't so damn broke...

Just scored 3 cases @ $32/case from an Autozone in Olathe while I was there this weekend. Got 25 quarts in my stash now....price increase won't be affecting me for awhile.

that extra 2 dollars doesnt mean anything. becaus ei wonder how much Wasted gas people have used to try and drive and find a store with it..... would probly save more money buying online than wasting half a tank of gas

yea, i agree. it's part of my logic. i'm just fortunate enough to be near an autozone on my way home from work. once i'm done my internship, the autozone will be a 20-30 mile drive ONE WAY! if it's out of stick, that's like 8 bucks down the tube in gas alone
