Has there been testing done on the 'new' formula? I know the green stuff is amazing, but what about the amber stuff? I would really like to see a comparison between the two. Also, which product is available online?

well, i doubt castrol would make the oil worse with the new formula. i think that logic was restricted to coca cola. i doubt they would change their formula to something worse. patman's the oil analysis guy here but he has such a huge stockpile of green GC, i doubt we'll get oil analysis results in a while. all i can tell you is, i've been tick free for over 3,000 miles since i switched to GC and i'm not about to change the oil yet either

Well, I guess I won't be needing to order online - stopped at an Autozone on my way home from work. Asked if they had the GC, guy stated he didn't know anything about it? Went back to the shelf and there were (3) cases of the German Castrol. Bought all three at $30.97/case of 6.

After I talked with the guy he stated that they get it in regularly and always have - he just didn't know that it was anything special.

So it looks like I have a constant supply - but I'll probably go buy a few more cases once they get in the next order.

I plan on buying enough for life of car and getting it over with

Heck, I drive the car under 5K miles/year to begin with.

Course, you have to add the PA Sales Tax of 6%

I don't think that it could get any noisier than it is right now.

in that case, i'd also recommend adding some seafoam to your oil. add half a can into the crankcase and run it for 100 miles or less before you change your oil. try not to run it for more than 100 miles. it'll clean most of the crap out of your crankcase before the switch. also, while german castrol is known to go for 5,000 miles+, if you seafoam your oil, i'd recommend running the first oil change of german castrol for 3,000-4,000 miles since some seafoam will lag behind and still make the oil slightly dirtier than normal. from then on, you can run the GC 5,000 miles or so. i have to do mine soon. i'm up to around 3,200 miles

I say that it's noisier now because of the valvetrain with the new cam. The car has always run with synthetic in it (mobil 1). I don't have any ticks or any bad noises like that.

ah, i see. i'd still run it through anyway just for the hell of it if you never have before. i did it as soon as i bought my car. changed the oil at 25k and it was sludgy after the seafoam.

Yeah I just read the seafoam sticky that you made. I won't run it just yet but I will in the near future.

Well, since no one has sent the new formula in for testing, I guess I will. I have been running gc for about 20,000 miles. My next oil change is in 5,000 miles (I run it for about 7k). I'll send it in and post the results. Prolly take about 1-1.5 months to get the 5k miles.

I'll get the results to Patman, also. I'm sure he has a few sets of results from the older formula that we can compare to the new stuff.

Just ordered 2 cases...we'll give it a shot.

Their site is not working right now, you might have to call them to place an order, I did.

i checked a few hours ago and it worked. i have a feeling they may be updating prices. the guy told me there would be a price increase mandated by castrol. i wonder if they're updating the prices, he said he only had 12 cases of GC left to be sold at that price

The site is itself up, but I think the store/ordering process is screwed up.

I tried ordering it on the site, it did'nt go through. I called them and he said they are having issues with it, has some nerds working on it right now.

It stung though...nearly $100 for 2 cases. I'm too lazy to be driving all around town to find it, tried 2 autozones and they did'nt have it.
