rearend noise
i just bought a 99 Trans Am about 7 months ago. she only had 51,000 miles on her when i got it. now i'm up to 60,000 and i got this whining noise coming from the rear end. the rear diff was flushed and the rear wheel bearings were replaced a week ago and the noise is still there. someone suggested carrier bearings going bad but i dont race the car, never neutral dropped, never burned out, and is still running stock. i live in pembroke pines, fl which is broward county and need some help finding an honest mechanic. these last guys i saw were ******* worthless. if anyone can help it be appreciated.

broward powertrain is located in Pompano. Pricey, but do really good work. They can do the diagnosis and labor. When my rear started heading south I upgraded there; 2 yrs later, no problems.

dude, your factory 10 bolt is prolly gonna take a dump on you soon. do a search on here about it. Hell, there is even a couple of stickies by Kiliente. Everyone upgrades to a built 12 bolt or 9 inch. There is no sense in putting money in your factory 10 bolt diff.

I was at Cayuga Raceway and I did something stupid to my rearend. I went from 1st to 2nd and back to 1st at wide open throttle. I got a horrible lock up followed by grinding, wheelhop and many other crazy noises I could only begin to tell you. NOW I HAVE THE WHINE ALSO.
I am currently gathering funds for a 9" rearend.
