Another vote for NGK TR55s.
I don't use any "special" tools really. For the passenger side, I use a slim line 3/8" ratchet, a 1" extension, a universal, and a 5/8" spark plug socket. For the driver's side, I use all the same stuff except I drop the universal in favor of an additional 1" extension or just one 3" extension rather than the two 1" units (depending on the plug).
You have an '00 car so it's easier for you. Just pull the whole coil rail on the passenger side and access is much easier. On my '98 I find it easier to just leave the coil packs since they would have to be pulled individually.

I put them in straight out of the box. The gap was just the same as the ones I took out. The orginal owner had some denso plugs in there. The car runs soo much smoother now.
Well I changed all but one. I'm gonna get that one tommorow I think. lol I gotta go get some more tools. Specifically the universal and the T handle. haha
