Default Belt Tensioner Wobbles

Hey guys,

I have noticed that my belt tensioner seems to move back and forth slightly when the engine is at idle. It seems to wobble back and forth a bit with the belts rotation. Is this normal or should I get a new tensioner? My belts have been squeaking slighty and thought this might be the cause.

Thanks,
Lane

you can try to tighten it down, or just get a new one...if its a considerable wobble...are you sure the belt isnt moving instead of the tensioner?

Well it has a little bit of back and forth motion. I asked my friend and he said 2 cm or so of movement is acceptable. So I suppose its fine. Maybe I just have a dirty belt. Its only two years old though. Do they start squeaking that fast?

sometimes they will get stuff on the belt....ie dirt, fluid, etc....and it will a bit...you can always just get a new belt to...doesnt really cost much

I went with the Katek manual belt tensioner and threw the stocker in the trash.

you can't adjust the stock belt tensioner. It is spring loaded. Mine was doing the exact same thing it was wobbling cause the spring inside the mechanism was shot. Just picked myself up a new tensioner and its perfect now stays in one place.
