Default Car will not start - neutral safety switch issue?

My car would not start today. When I turn the key all of the electronics come on (stereo, dashlights, headlights, etc.) but all I hear is a clicking sound. This has happened a couple of times in the past, but after another attempt it would start. Today I tried several times and it still wouldn't start.

It is an automatic which makes me think it could be the neutral safety switch. I am pretty sure the battery is fine because it started right up a few days ago. Has anyone else had this issue? Also where is the neutral safety switch located? THANKS

Swap in a known good battery.

clicking sound almost always means your battery doesn't have enough cranking amps to turn the crank. It can be deceiving because you have enough power to run the radio and all the lights, but not enough to turn it over.
If not the battery. I could be the starter.

If not the battery, I would say the starter too.

I should also mention that I was unable to put the car into any gear with the ignition on and my foot on the brake. I also turned the steering wheel to make sure it wasn't in the locked position. Thanks again.

I'd still have the battery load tested, if for no other reason just to eliminate it as being the problem. Strange things can happen with low voltage. When my battery died unexpectedly it even popped the rear hatch.
