yellowish foam in oil cap....
i just put my hooker catback on tonight and when i was done i figured i would check my oil. i was almost a qt low (just barely to the add line) and i noticed a yellowish foam on the bottom of my oil cap...
please tell me this has happened to someone else and its not a big problem

yes its condinsation it happens to other cars aswell as my car. if you have that on your dipstick it would be a problem ie head gasket. but condesation does seem to build up under the oil cap i cant tell you why i have no anwser for that but it is common i have seen a lot of cars come thru the stealership i work at with a yellowish film on the bottom of the oil fill cap mostly 3.8v6 and ls based motors

o thank GOD!!!! i got like a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach when i saw that...i was already thinkin about how much a forged 347 would have costed

this happens if you live in colder areas, and you make a lot of short trips, where your engine doesn't get up to operating temps. this is normal and you should just clean it out when you change the oil. If you are seeing this in the middle of summer, also check the dipstick to see if there is anything on that one or rust as it could mean a headgasket.

Common in most cars, not just LS1's. Moisture and condensation from temperature changes in the air outside. That's why I'm not a big fan of tracking the mileage between oil changes. I change mine every time the seasons change. Just did the spring change.

thanks for all the info guys...i really got worried for a second there. i dont know what i'd do without this forum haha. i hate pennsylvania, it was 80 last week and i had the ttops off. this week, heat is on and windows are up cuz its between 30-40 degrees
