Default Engine Whine /Whistle under load?

ok heres what ive got, a constant whistling whinning noise under load, so with the clutch disengaged car in nuetral it makes no noise, once i start driving it sounds like it have a supercharger. On some days its louder than other and i cant seem to track it down. It doesnt sound like belt squeal, and the tensioner pulley is new. It does have full exhaust, and the AIR/EGR removed.

This might sound crazy, but can it be the alternator? I know people who have had the alternator do this, only under load though, and it got louder with an electrical load (lights perhaps).

it has an SLP lid, i thought about the alternator just because it seems to be louder under the car than at the top of the engine.

i would agree with the alternator theory, but i would think that it would whine under heavy electrical load, not necessarily engine load...

that happened to me once before... check your power steering (i know it sounds so random). but this happened to me once when i was going around a circle and i accelerated hard, trying to get off on the appropriate turn-off and it scared the **** outta me lol. it ended up my power steering was extremely low and the pump started whining.

i did check that because i know how bad GM PS pumps are but it has fluid, it may be just a bad unit though.

Yeah since day 1 the saginaw pumps have their noise issue (many on my older camaro's), but I learned from alot of hydrolic guys that the noise does not neccessarily meen failure. If it is the pump, the noise could be the only prob, mess with different fluids.

whats weird is its not a very pronounced noise at idle if you can even hear it at all but when im driving i can hear it steady over the exhaust or bouncing off the car next to me

i've heard my car make a whistleing noise to. I dont think it would be the power steering pump cause it dont make any difference whether the wheels are turned or not. power steering pumps usually whine instead of whistle. My car seems to do this more on cool nights for some reason and can be heard very easily when i first take off and accelerate... kinda sounds like its sucking air. All the intake mods i have are a slp flo pac.

So after letting the car sit for a while, went back outside and took it for a little drive, no noise, then a spirited drive, still no noise. Sooooo, no clue what to tell you besides the power steering fluid maybe. Mine was a tad low but nothing that should have mattered.

yeah, it's sounding more and more like p/s. Whenever I go nuts on the car on turns I get that whine untill I let it cool back down for a while. I read in a GM book (don't know which) that this is normal, but to check incase it's a sign of somthing else. If you're a bit low, air gets sucked into it and the slightest bit of air makes alot of noise. I'll bet if you take that "sprinted drive" on hard turns, high rpms/ heavy stearing, w/out full fluid, it acts up again.
