If it an M6 it could be the clutch disk starting to slip, dirty air filter or air filter?

Since when the last time your car had a tune up? IE: fuel filter, plugs/wires, coils, clean MAF sensors, change fluids...

If it's doing it in 1st gear as well as the highway I would think it's not the clutch. Usually clutches slip in high gear when they start going. The statement that it seems like it's running out of gas sounds like it's sputtering. There's a whole bunch of stuff that can cause that. Is it throwing any codes? That might be the first place to start other than checking simple things like loose plug wires.

That was what my car did when I had a factory clutch disc fall apart. One side of the disk was missing (metal to metal) and one side was fine.

You can always test a clutch to see if its slipping by put it in a high gear, like 5th, and trying to take off like normal. If the car stalls out, the clutch is not slipping, if the car revs up then the clutch is slipping.

next time it does that watch your check engine light, if it blinks then you have misfire and some sensor regulating your air fuel % is dead or no spark ie.o2, mass air, wires or plugs.

p.s. none of that stuff is expensive or hard to replace yourself.
o2 sensors - $160 for the front two (they are the only ones necessary)
tools required - wrench, floorjack
mass air sensor - $5 probably doesent need replaced just sprayed down with carburator cleaner but be careful to not bend the wires
tools required - screwdriver, can of carb cleaner
wires - $30 hard to pull off usually if thyve been on a while but easier to put on. Dont worry if the metal sleeves around the block come out they arent needed no tools necessary
spark plugs - $60 probably the harder of the tune up work. Get the NGK TR 55's at auto zone pre gapped and a good socket and ratchet

if misfire is your problem these steps should eliminate it

My car does the samething when it rains sometimes. If I mash it to the floor it resumes full power and blasts like a bat out of hell. It throws a Random Misfire Code and thats all it says. My SES will even flash sometimes I just drive through it and the light turns off and the car returns to normal and it can still be raining. I am going to try to clean my mass air meter and descreen it. I have put a tune up on my car in the last six months plugs, wires, fuel filter.

I would start with replacing the fuel filter. Wife's Granda Am did something very smilar a few times and it was the fuel filter.
