Angry How big of a job is it replacing broken cat flange stud?

I was tightening my exhaust flanges with a 3/8 drive ratchet and snapped off one of the studs on the cat flange!!
So, how big of an ordeal is it to replace? It looks like they just screw into the front of the flange? BTW-this is the cat on the driver side of my LS1.
Hopeful nothing major??

PLMK-Thanks

actually i want to say it is a press in stud, kinda like wheel studs. if you have access to a torch, i'd try to heat it out then take a hammer and pound it out.

Ya those things should be so rusted up they are useless, good luck, just get headers and a x or y, time to upgrade.

I snapped off one of mine while changing my Y-pipe, it was a bit of a bitch to replace it but not too bad. After years of working on rusty cars from Wisconsin I've kind of gotten used to this kind of thing.

Unless '99 cat studs are different from '00 cat studs the stud screws in. When mine snapped luckilly there was enough left to grab onto with a pair of visegrips, I ended up heating up the flange with a torch and broke the stud loose. This was all done with the Y-pipe removed BTW.

You could always carefully drill it out if you have to and then retap the hole if you screw up the threads for a new stud.

Yeah, it looks like it does screw into the flange and Yes, I have enought to grab, so just heat her up, grab with vice gripes and go at it, yeah? Mertic stud I suppose too, hey?

If all of that fails, you get yourself a couple of cobalt
drill bits, one like 1/8" for a pilot and one about the root
diameter of the stud, drill it out and either pick out the
left-over pieces of stud thread or tap the hole (maybe
for the Help! pack studs with brass nuts, next time).
Or you can drill it bigger and use a nut & bolt.

That's pretty much it, it worked really well for me so it's worth a shot.

It also might be a good idea to also use some penetrating oil too before you try to get it out.

Yeah the studs are Metric(don't remember the size), I was able to find a pretty close match to the factory stud at NAPA. Everything I found at the local Autozones were too short.
