Default List of To Do's after buying high mile LS1

I want to buy a used mid-high mile ( 70K - 90K ) LS1 that was treated decently. When I get it , what should I do to freshin it up aka a 'tune up'. I know the usual: get a compression test before buying, then do an oil change, spark plugs / wires. What else should be done?

Replace the air filter and fuel filter, put injector cleaner in it, basically change all fluids and filters. I dont think 70 - 90k miles is really high mileage for these cars.

Agreed, fluids & filters for everything (don't forget tranny & rearend). I'd also throw some new o2's at it. Probably should flush the cooling system as well.

Lol. Thats not high mileage. Its an LS1, not a old school small block. Just do all the usual stuff when you get a used car, fluids, filters, brakes....

i bought my 2001 SS with 89,000 on it; I changed the air filter and the oil then took it to the dyno... 336 hp/370 lb-ft...

to stay on topic, after the dyno I changed all fluids (clutch fluid was really bad) and the belt

First of all, an LS1 is an engine, not a car. I'm going to assume that you mean you want to buy a car, in which case you should have worte, "LS1-year F-Body," or "an LS1-powered car," or "a 98-02 F-Body," or something. The reason this is important is because people do buy engines to put in cars all the time.

Second, 70-90 K is not high miles. I have 110,000 on my '99 Z28 with nothing more than general maintenance. No problems at all. I beat the **** out of the car daily.

If you were to get a compression test before buying, you did better than 99 percent of the people on this site. I'm not sure how much it would cost to have a shop do it, but changing the plus is not cheap (nor is it as hard to do as many say, IMO).

When I bought my car, just to familiarize myself with it and for no other reason (call me crazy), I changed the oil, air filter (use stock paper, not K&N), and later the plugs and wires.

Call a sponsor in your area to ask all the newb questions like "What spark plugs/wires?"
"What kind of oil should I buy" has been covered on this site more than any other question. it gets asked more than once a week. sometimes, more than once a day.
Then, buy the stuff off of them as payment for getting you though newbiness.

Change all fluids and keep an eye on that transmission. I had to get a new one install about 85K (99 SS), my friend 72K-75K (00 SS).
