Default Fuel Filter

I just changed my fuel filter today with 37000 miles on it....and wow...black gasoline was coming out of it! Pretty nasty. Just wanted to share.

that thing was a pain in the *** to change... i couldn't figure out how to get the support sleeve unhooked so i just tried sliding the filter out the backside of it... i think i kinked the fuel line in the process DOH!

I've kinked that plasticky fuel line twice now. It can't be good for the fuel pressure, but I can't figure out where it attaches up at the tank so I can replace it.

The problem is getting impatient removing the filter, with all the fuel pouring out after undoing the front connector. The right kind of pliers should let you remove the bracket instead of pulling the filter out the back of the bracket, which invariably kinks the fuel line.

Yup. And make sure the fuel pressure is down, or you will get lots of fuel dumped out.

You'd be in the 12s now just from changing it!

I changed the one in my truck yesterday at 57K miles and I had the black crap coming out the dirty side. It looked like oil and even stained my concrete.
