Yeah I agree that it is in the belt/ pully area of the engine. Bad tensioner, or idler/tensioner bearing is very possible. You could take the belt off and spin each pully individually to mimik the sound; might require a steththescope.

could be alot of things, often times chirping sounds are pulley/belt related like already stated. It can be exhaust though. If its not coming from one of the pulleys or the belt though start checking for exhaust leaks. Last thing to look for...spark plugs, we actually had a broken one on the BBC in the malibu last week that was leaking air out the end of the plug on the compression stroke, very strange.

i think it might be what horsewraddict said, cause i just changed the belt last week and its nothing with the tensioner or the belt. its coming from somwhere near the plugs or injectors on the passenger side, only when i rev it and the rpms drop does it do it or if im in a certain gear and i leave it in that gear and let off do i hear that noise ill try and post a vid

coming from the same place the sound is coming from? smoke is easier to source than a sound sometimes.

well, it could possibly be a pulley or belt. you might be smokin the belt, i doubt it though.

Maybe its an intake leak, you said it chirps as the revs come down, their is alot of vacuum during decel and it could be sucking air in somewhere between the throttle body and heads. The chirping sound may have been the beginning of a leak that is now worse and leaking all all the time. The smoke you are seeing could be coolant if you said its white (cigarette smoke colored).

How does the car idle? if its rougher than usual you it leads me to think you have a vacuum leak, dont rely on that though, if may not be enough to alter the idle. Spray some soapy water around where the smoke/noise is coming from and look for bubbles, listen to the car run and see if the smoke goes away (the water/soap may temporarily plug the leak). I would say use carb cleaner and see if the idle goes up when sprayed at the (possible) leak but if its not causing dirveability issues/rough/hi idle the amount of carb cleaner getting in prob wont do much.

....sounds like intake. a head gasket doesn't usually leak any oil. Pull the plug nearest the stain and see what it looks like.

if its blacker than the other plugs its prob sucking oil in, like i already said, might be an intake leak. PCV leak..it could be so many things.
