Default Need advice on what to do

Okay, so i was the one complaining about all the backfiring and i've figured out what the problem was... this can go down in most ridiculous things i've forgotten to do, but
I FORGOT TO DELETE MY REAR 02 SENSORS, and i've been running it for a month or two...
So i got the codes checked out, P0140, P0160, and P0300
Im getting the 02 sensors as well as a Cylinder 8 misfire...
My spark plug wires are old, so im going to order new ones.. Im assuming it's the wires because i JUST replaced the plugs 2k miles ago when i did headers...
So, will deleting my rear 02s fix the sputtering, backfiring, sloppiness of my car?
And have i really fucked my engine up because of this?

Also, are there any specific wires i should get?

The misfire could be anything. Plug, wire, injector, pushrod, etc. When you say codes for 02 do you mean front or rear?

Forgetting to delete the rear 02s shouldn't give you much of anything besides an SES code I'm pretty sure, it's the front ones that make sure your mix is ok, the rears make sure your cats are working... You should get a code for the rears but it shouldn't make the car run like dogshit. Don't be insulted by this question, but did you plug the front ones into the correct plug? I didn't one time when I changed them and was quite surprised at how shitty the car ran. Mental error.

As for the misfire, IIRC isn't 0300 the multiple random misfire? Wires couldn't hurt, make sure you aren't burning any on the headers. Interesting point about injectors causing misfire... I never thought about that. Learn something new every day.

EDIT: as for wires, I had MSDs, I didn't like them (before I found out you can BEND the boot away from the headers... WTF), so I got stock ones off an 04 goat for 25 bucks. MSDs weren't that much anyhow. Don't forget the dielectric grease.

oo Lastcall I overlooked where he listed the codes (P0300). You're right that's not cyl 8 at all, rather a random misfire.

Deleting the rear 02 codes gets rid of the SES light. It's the fronts that are the big decision makers. IMO the rear 02s should be deleted in the PCM, and I would bet that one of the front 02's is on its way out, but without a code yet.

Okay then, i'm at this question now, if it's not the rear 02s making my car run like ****, then what the hell could it be? the random misfire? I mean literally the day it started was after i took it to the track, maybe 4 days after my oil change... spark plugs are still pretty new, wires are old... I mean i ran it 3 times, then on the third the backfiring started..
Could it be that the front 02s are fucked up now? I'm just completely lost at what to do about this,
Car is 87k miles, QTP headers, X pipe txsp exhaust, untuned.. codes not deleted yet, I was putting all of my money on it being the codes but if it's not that, then what is it? Spark plugs? Coil? ****, what do i do

Recheck your plug wires. ONE click on the spark plug, TWO clicks on the coil. It's very easy to miss, and if even one wire isn't 2 clicks fully on, it can cause some funny things. Secondly, just relax, this problem isn't the end of the world Check your front 02 sensor plugs, make sure if you used extensions that you located the right plugs. Secondly, delete the rear 02s, don't bother with sims (most shops charge less to tune 'em out than sims cost). If you are bored, do this:

Pull the plugs, check 'em to see if they are fouled. Then, pull the coil brackets/packs. Check the metal prong inside the coil pack connector. They should all be a nice golden/brown color. If they aren't, and look like they have some buildup, the connection isn't tight and somethings amiss. I did this and found one of my eight wasn't connected. Put the plug on there hulk-smash and good to go. Check every plug related to the coils. If you want new front 02s, check out denso. I got 'em, weren't too expensive, and they work great. It sounds like something got rocked on that 3rd pass (duh), since it sounds like night/day difference. Good luck.

I've heard something similar to what you're describing can be caused by a dirty maf, try pulling your maf off and spraying it with compressed air. Be careful though, they're pretty easy to damage, so I don't suggest using anything more than compressed air.
