I think our cars "technically" call for 5w-30...I'm currently running Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic right now...hope that helps at least a little...

heavier weight in the summer, lighter weight in the winter. 5w-30 which means 5 in the winter 30 in the summer. i dont know if that helps but thats the general idea

pennzoil 0-30w would be the perfect oil for this time of season.

I meant 5-30W unless you going with German Castrol.

The numbers represent the thickness of the oil.

my uncles been working on cars for the last 20+ years... hes had numerous camaros, firebirds, corvettes and mustangs... i questioned the same thing just before doing my oil change a week ago... the difference in the weight and viscosities in the oil vary from every car.... a hondas oil is alot thinnner wheres are oil is thicker... during the winter times not only my uncle but GM to calls for 5w-30... during summer time driving its 10w-30... i know i ran 10w-30 through last winter and had no problems... so i had asked what teh difference was...and he said that its just a heavier weight oil... so its thicker... so when yer trying to turnn yer motor over on a cold *** day.. pending where u live... (in winter here it can be between 0-30 degrees at nite) the lighter weight oil will help u out... if u dont believe me... pull out yer GM book that came with the car and it will show u at colder temps 5w-30 and at warmer temps 10w-30

oh and oil is oil... no matter what yer running... penzoils 5w-30 is just the same as castrols 5w-30 or whoever else... the only thing that you can really argue is which oil lasts longer... where as i used to run regual mobil but have been having problems getting it so i just run the castrol gtx... its all the same.. i do my oil every 3000 miles... its when u start getting to synthetic oils and going to the 5,000 mile mark when u start the argumnets of oh this oil last longer and doesnt break down as quick... and yeah.... ide much rather change mine every 3000 miles because i have the shop to do it... whereas someone who doesnt might want to go longer.. ut in the long run... synthetic is more money anyways so it evens out...

Why use multi-grade oils.
