Default Window Problem

My driver's side window finally won't move any more after it's been moving really slowly for the last few weeks. I'm assuming it must be the motor. Does anyone know of any good write-ups on how to change one?

That write up is excellent, I used it a long time ago.... there is a template online that you can use to mark the position for the 1/2" or 5/8" holes to access the rivets..... my window motors last about 2 years, driver side dies first because of higher use/abuse.... I bought them at AutoZone and AdvancedAuto... the driver side motor from AutoZone is a Siemens motor and it's a little faster and appears more powerful than my passenger side (ACI from Advanced).
The motors are $59 and have a lifetime warranty

Sorry but I have to disagree:
I change the window motors on my '99 every two years, that's how long this junk lasts.... takes about 30 minutes per side, including cleaning and greasing the tracks and regluing the plastic foil........

It takes a little longer the first time because you have to fdrillt he factory rivets out but that's it.... it's a piece of cake.....

Now... the dealer won't do this cheap..... they'll remove the entire motor and gear assembly.... THEN separate the motor from the assembly..... if you don't mind the bill go ahead and have the pros do the job.... and pay $$$....

Guess I should head to Autozone and try it myself. Might be a dumb question but are these things universal or do I have to get a specific motor for my car?
Thanks for the help, guys.

From what I understand it's not realy the motor that is a total POS. It's the cotrol module that does not allow full votage to the motor so the motor croaks prematurely. But, replacing the window regualtors is a regular thing, as long as you got some time on hand.

Mine went out without warning, in the down position.

Dealer wanted $163 + motor in my area.

I agree, the first time around its a PITA because you don't have the access holes drilled and you are operating somewhat blindly (and because its your first time ). Mine must have been replaced before because there were nuts/bolts holding mine in (no rivets). That made it a bitch since they were cranked down tight and with a flathead on the side facing the window. It was tough to get into that tight area.
