Default Low coolant light on wtf??

Ok, I have had problems with this light for a long time. I have changed the low coolant level sensor twice and the light is still on. The car is not overheating or anything, but it is annoying to see the light all the time. The damn light is on and off ramdomly. It's driving me nuts Does anybody have the same problem? Thanks

The coolant level sensors malfunction in these cars all the time. you can either replace it yourself for $35, take it to a shop and have them replace it for $75 for parts and labor, or you can just remove the plug, its about 6 inches down from the radiator on the passenger side

I had the same problem by the way, easily fixed by just unplugging it

just unpluggin it is not fixin the problem and god forbid you ever have an issue where your running low on coolant, you'll never know it unless you check it everyday.

you could have a leak somewhere. i recently was experiancing the same thing on my 99...light would come on and off periodically but coolant level was ok in the radiator but low in the resevoir...turns out, the water pump developed a small leak...it wasnt enough to hit the ground so i never bothered to check for leaks untill i had it up in the air for its oil change...there it was.

if there is no leaks and you've replaced the coolant level sensor a couple times than ya might wanna clean out your radiator. you could have some junk in there thats ruining or getting all over the sensor itself...just a thought.

Default How does the sensor work?

Hey, I have the same problem. I noticed my radiator cap was bulging in the middle so I replaced it. Now the light is off when the engine is cold. As soon as the thermostat opens, the low level light comes on and stays on. I have taken out the sensor to clean it, but it is just a small metal probe with nothing on it. How does this sensor work? Is it by the pressure of the system or the conductance of the coolant?

Thanks
