Default WOW . . what a klunk!

Drivers rear . . . Hit a piece of bubble gum and it sounds like the shock is coming through the well wheel. I checked the shock and it's tight. Anyone with any thoughts on what might be the problem?

As always I appreciate your help as you guys know way more than me.

Where should I start?

OK . . . maybe bubble gum comment was a bit much but . . . even the slightest bump and I cringe knowing that clunk will follow. Anyone?

are you positive it is the drivers rear. what size exhaust do you have and does it run over the axle. i could never tell where the noise you were describing was coming from. i tried to shake the exhaust, but it would move. it was very close the the pan hard bar. so one day i just stuffed a wrag in between it and there was no klunk. until the wrag fell off. best of luck.

Like any noise you hear, it could be coming from someplace different. I have the loudmouth and it looks like it's hitting the pipe. I'm going to try the rag trick to see if that's the noise.

Thanks for the replys.

I have that exact same noise. Anytime i hit a bump in the road it follows with a loud clunk noise. I have checked exhaust and lower control arm bolts and everything is tight.

My noise it coming from drivers and passengers rear. I wish someone had an answer to this problem.

Your LCA bushings may be worn out. Its hard to tell, even though the bolts may seem tight. You may have to remove them to inspect the bushing.

Check bumpstops if it's lowered...Other than that, check the over the axle where the exhaust passes, make sure it isn't hitting anything.

* Update * Both bushings on the driver LCA were toast. I put a new set of BMR's I was going to put in the SS but they were needed in the Formula. So goodbye klunking noise.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

sscamaro02, the LCA are not that expensive. Get a set from one of the vendors. To change the bushings you need a press to that. Press the old one out and to press the new ones in IIRC.

The bushing that connects to the rear was in the worse shape on mine.

When you checked your rear shock did you check the upper mounting or just where it mounts to the rear axle ?

Just where it mounts to the axle. Was there someting I should have looked at at the top mounting area?

look at your caliper bracket on the rear end and make sure the 4 bolts are on tight. also ive noticed when the rear shocks go bad they arent always bumpy or squishy, they just tend to make alot of noise
