electric fans arent comming on on a 99 trans am
I just bought this car it runs right at arrond 210 degrees by the guage on the dash. I have noticed the fans arent comming on. I ran a wire fromn the 40 amp fan fuse and tied it in to the fan on the driverside of the radiator and both fan fired right up and ran. I have swaped the relays all arround and nothing. What else could it be and what should I look for?
I also checked one fan comes on when the ac is on. It is the fan on the passenger side of the radiator.

The PCM turns the fans on at whatever temps are programmed in. Stock settings are high - plus the '99 and up gauges aren't accurate. Don't know about getting only one fan with the AC on, thinking they should both run on low or high speed, at least mine do with a SLP manual fan switch. Never checked with just the AC on. I have LEDs wired to mine so can see them coming on/off hi/low speed and this time of year in Jax I never see high speed fans, and occasionally low speed - with the settings programmed low for the 160 tstat. If the car isn't overheating I wouldn't worry about it.

where is the temp sensor at on these cars? I had a 99 transam back in 99-2001 and ireally didn't remember if it ran at the same temp as this car is but I had a lot of bolt ons and a hpp3 on it.

By the gauge not being accurate I meant it reads a range vs. actual temp. If it climbs above 210 it's starting to overheat and will further climb and go into the red if something is wrong. At the first mark on mine the ECT on a scanner is 140 degrees. The ECT sensor is in the drivers side head, right by #1.

I have a 99 trans am also, and the temp gauge in the car reads 210, if I drive it for a while and stop and turn the car off, it overflows antifreeze, but it never shows that it is overheating on the car gauge. What could this be?

Its got a new 18lb rated one it., I checked the relays and the fuses and they all checked out. I also jumped the fans out and they both work perfect when jumped out.

I tune the fans to come on a set temp then have both fans turn off at aroung 60MPH, not needed at that speed the temp will stay at normal, One time I put in some radiator cleaner, I believe it was prestone, You were suppose to leave it in for a few hours not the 10 minute stuff, but I drove the car for a few days, flushed it, put new fluid and it fixed my problem..
