Yeah, the town is responsible for road hazards like that. Nothing to lose in trying.

2 years ago, some lady's car dropped her exhaust right in front of and the lowered Trans AM!

Bam, I went right over the thing. Destroyed the pass o2 sensor, and put a nasty gouge in the pass header. It ruined the setup under there in a flash.

I didnt stop or get her information, I leared afterwards that her insurance woud have covered it!

You could try going to the city hall and raising hell about it. That may or may not do anything

depends on who takes care of the road, state or township, then go to whoever is repsonsible for it. penndott covers stuff fomr time to time but its hard to get them to actually help you

our state is too damn cheap to fill in the potholes, and all they are going to say to you is that they cant do anything till it warms up. which I think is complete bullshit, at least throw some rocks in there so no cars get damaged. i drive through wilkes barre daily and its just pathetic.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago here in St. Louis Mo.
A week later a pot hole swallowed up a garbage truck, if it were my car I
could have been injured bad or dead.

The township is MOST CERTAINLY NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. Its called governmental immunity.

I think you should definitly take it to the powers that be who are responsible for the road. Thats just dangerous. Tax dollars arent for politicians to live a lavish life, its to better the lives of the people. This is not bettering your life in any way. Fight, fight and fight, dont let them blow you off. They should fix the car.

They should, but they are not legally obligated to. Federal, State, and Local governments are generally immune from most (not all, but most) civil actions against them. They aren't immune from intentional torts (such as police brutality), cases involving discrimination (i.e. violations involving the 14th amendment), traffic accidents (all city vehicles carry liability insurence), and I believe there are a few others. This simply is not one. Sorry OP, your out of luck. Good luck getting the car fixed and thank god no one got hurt.

EDIT: They may choose to help you, or have some locally policy that governs, but for the most part the above is true.

If you read my post, I did not say the township was responsible FOR THAT (her exhaust) rather her insurance company would have been.

I did say that his township 'should be' responsible for thier road hazards.
