supp guyz i need your help. recently my water pump went out and replaced it with a new one. turns out i had a 160 stat on it and wont fit on the new pump. reason is that the new pump is from an ls2. well now i need an ls2 160 stat or maybe some help solving my problem. i only had the new stat like 2 weeks and boom the water pump went out. do i need a gto 160 stat?what do i do?

The new replacement pumps come with a different thermostat/housing - 185 if I remember correctly - and the old ones won't fit. Once the thermostat opens the car will run at the fan temps programmed into the PCM. Are you saying the new water pump went out in two weeks? Don't think the different temp thermostat would have anything to do with it.

nah the pump is still working but came with the new stat 185. so you are sayin that the fans will come on with what the pcm has them set at. thats the thing i have a tune and the fans were set to the 160 stat. will i have to get a gto stat or ls2 stat. the original 160 stat wont fit to wide. now the fans are just on the car thinks its hot i guess

im guessing since you have a ls2 pump u need the t stat from any ls2 motor! the 05-06 GTO,C6 corvette, trailblazer SS, SSR, those all have the LS2 in them! and p.s if you need to sell the LS1 thermostat ill buy it form you!

kool thanks but that just the stat how about the housing? like the ls1 stats come complete what do i do?

I'd look at your choice of sponsors and ask them. Make sure they deal with LS2's first... most of them do.
