Default Identifying an exhaust leak?

Hey boys and girls,

I installed all the mods in my sig roughly a month ago. The car really screams and despite not having the tune done yet, everything is as normal as can be expected, until recently. Last week I began getting a ticking sound. Yes, I know, the infamous "ticking." Thing is, though, that I've narrowed it down to underneath the car, and not actually coming from the engine. I haven't had the chance to get underneath and take a closer look, but at the connection of the header and Y-pipe I can see condensation dripping out. Could it be that there is an exhaust leak here, and the ticking sound is the regular "header ping" being amplified? Is an exhaust leak even ever identified by ticking? Thanks in advance guys!

usually a leak will have a black color around where it is coming out from . as far as the pinging it could be anything . if you have any metal flanges on your exhaust and they are loose it can make for a rough sounding ride .

That could be where it's coming from. Obviously the only way to tell for sure is jack it up and look.

easiest thing to do is lay down by the side of the car and have a friend with a rag in each hand cover the tips. This will force more exhaust out of the "leaky" spot. Dont worry it wont stall.

Good luck!!!

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. I may end up swingin' by a shop for a few minutes, as recommended, and have 'em see if they can find it.

Also, how important is it to make sure there's isn't really a leak before I get her tuned for the mods?

How do you think I was able to afford my mods?

I dont see how it would hurt anything with tuning. If anything it would be like having a tiny cutout

UPDATE:

Umm...so I changed my oil, and the ticking stopped!? Just normal header noise now.
Interesting, yet scary. Thoughts, comments?
*keep in mind the sound was most audible from under the sides/doors of the car, as if behind and below the engine*

Oil change cured your tick?lolz I should of changed my oil instead of my pushrods!!but yea i had a ticking turned out to partly be the pushrods but the car still has a slight ticker(lesser than before)....easy way to check is get a wood dowel and put it on the valve car with the car running and put the other on your ear and compare both sides
