Negative.
V6 racks all use rag joints (LT1 style) and are lower ratio than an LS1 car. LS1 cars have solid doulbe U joint style couplers, that will not work with a V6 rack...it puts the steering wheel off center. You wouldn't want a v6 rack anyhow because of the lower ratio...but if you had to use one you need the LT1/V6 rag joint coupler.
There are a few rack part numbers and different codes, but I do not know what they are. Aparently the only way to tell the v8 racks apart is the gear output angle. Some people report having header clearance issues with one rack and not another, but they all come off LS1 cars. I haven't figured that out yet...me and some people were curious about it years ago and never got a real answer.
But the upshot is no, get an LS1 rack and coupler...even if you have a V6 - it's an upgrade. Some parts places can tell you the ratio and some can't. You want the quickest one you can get for an LS1 car, with the LS1 solid coupler.

well i just looked at the steering rack in a 2000 v6 camaro and it had all solid u joints on the coupler. as for the steering ratio i do not know but i guess im just gonna go down to the dealer and look for the part numbers....if its got a diff ratio then it would have different part numbers correct?

I have a '98 V6 and a '98 LS1 steering rack here. The V6 rack does not fit on the car with the LS1 installed. The angle of the steering joint is a little bit different and causes interference with the LS1 headers.

ok kinda bringing this back as im just now looking at the unmounted steering rack from the 2000 V6 camaro and to my surprise the part number engraved on it was exactly the same that was in my 2002 Z28 and i also had bought a used steering rack from a member on here that was from a 02 T/A i believe with the very same part number?
now the problem i dont get is on the "part number request" thread, the part number given for ls1 steering rack is different? whats up with that? and the other thing is i went down to the dealership and handed in both the VIN umbers of my 02 Z and the 00 V6 and they even had told me that the cars have different steering racks?
this is all to confusing. the v6 car is completely stock and never in any accidents so the rack hasnt been replaced....
