all data says it pays 1.9 hrs cash. times that by the dealership hourly rate. roughly 90/hr, so 90 x 1.9 = 171 + any tax or other fees they charge.

 

170 + the part. which is $80 at AutoZone, so 200 ish @ Dealership?

 

sounds about right. dealerships dont like it when you bring your own parts tho lol. They want to make money on everything!

 

Use the shoebox guide and do it yourself if you can change oil you can replace window motors.

 

It's especially easy if you drill the holes for easy access.

Do it yourself. You'll learn something and smile every time you open/close your window knowing you fixed it.

 

I don't know how a dealership can hold a straight face while charging some of these prices. I was recently quoted $20 for one spark plug wire. One! I went ahead to Pep Boys and got a box of 8 for $30.

I will be getting to my window motor soon. I'm seriously looking forward to doing this myself, as I don't want to pay another dime for the "professionals" to do this. Remember that as long as you know how to do something, you can probably do it a lot safer than a "professional" because it's your car.

 

I've done all the mods in my sig by myself except build the tranny which Slowhawk did. Just don't want to try the window motor for some odd reason?

Did my drivers side 2 years ago, passenger is about to go soon. Going to do the quick down button mod on that side and the double-quick down on the driver side when I do it though. Do it yourself man, it will be less man and make you feel prouder if you do it yourself. Whats that one commercial "Wrench up and do it yourself" lol.

If I could get it done for around $300, I'd just have the "Stearlership" do it.

Do a search for the shoebox guide its a walkthrough for instaling window motors. Go to Autozone and get a motor for around $60-70 bucks and do it yourself. Plus if you get a motor from AZ it will have a lifetime warrenty. Im tellin you if I can do anyone can....just do it!

 

Not even really sure it's the motor. Might be the regulator or switch. I had a friend do a built tranny for me and he had the car for a couple of weeks. He told me the window motor did not work when I got the car back. It does not do the usual come down & not go all the way up. Just does nothing? Haven't tried anything with the switch.

There was a write up I found I gotta find it again in my 5 gazillion bookmarks that had instructions and part numbers for installing the same driver side window quick down module on the passenger side and on the driver side passenger button. Let me look see if i can find it.

 

Thanks, I normally just print them all out and put them in a binder in the garage.

 

My driver window motor are acting up. Gets stuck sometimes and slowly i have to push the button to close the window.

The problem i've heard about AutoZone motors is that sometimes at the very top the motor doesn't seem to seal right. So im a little worried about going to aftermarket window motors.

Has anyone had there auto zone window motors seem to not have a tight fit at the top of the window?
