Default Belt Install

Im going to be installing new belts on my 02 Formula. I looked at the directions on install university. It doesnt seem that hard, however I have never done one on a LS1 before. Im guessing it should take a hour for both?
Any tips or hints?

If you are referring to serpentine belts all you have to do is put a socket on a 1/2 drive ratchet and turn the belt tensioner to relieve the tension from the belt and then slide it off. Once you figure it out it will probably take you a total of 5 minutes to do both. Take off the accessory one first then change the A/C from under the car. The A/C belt has a tensioner just like the other. Make sure you change it first because you won't be able to get it on if you have you accessory belt on first. If you get confused there's a diagram on the driver's fender of the belt routing. It's easy.

take off the intake and baffle, and that should give you some more room to work with also

easiest belts of any car I've ever done by far. Be sure to follow the diagram sticker under the hood, and it is SO easy. Just put a wrench on the nut of the tensioner to slack the belt.

i had never replaced the belts on my car (75k on the clock). so last weekend i bought the 2 gatorback belts and did it. Having an SLP lid makes it easier to get to the belt. I took all of 10 minutes TOTAL to pull off the belts and put the new ones on. I was happy with myself as i am not mechanically inclined

hey guys i didn't want to start a new thread...

1995 pontiac grand am v6/3.1 is the car

belt is very loose on it, and i am not the best at working on cars so i just have some simple questions.

first i need to find the belt tensioner. i think i'll figure that out...do i just rotate the bolt on it clockwise to untighten it? then simply turning it counterclockwise tightens it?

i doubt the belt just came loose, so what could be bad? it's making a terrible noise btw (worse and louder than a whine), but that could just be that the belt is loose or i have a bad bearing somewhere...
