Default Dead coolant gauge?

My coolant gauge doesn't register anything at all anymore. What is the fix for this?

are you saying it just sits there even w/the car turned off or running a while, no movement?

No movement whatsoever even after a 5 hour drive.

Righto. In front of Number 1. Slightly higher. Can't miss it. The wires are a little bit fragile.

If it was not plugged in, he could not drive it once it warms up, it will flood itself.

98's are notorious for being "lazy"... The girlfriends 98 TA reads between the 1st and 2nd mark. I had my EFIlive hooked up and it read ~202*F.

Yeah...sounds like your coolant sensor gauge is dead. Iv'e had to replace two of them recently, one during header install and one removing spark plugs. Having this sensor go bad is a typical problem and they are not hard to break. Also, usually when this sensor dies it will flash a Service Engine Light to let you know something is up. Oh yeah, use a 3/4 wrench to remove.

He said he went on a 5 hour drive... There is no way he would be able to drive that long with it not plugged in / or broke.

When I broke mine (from a header install) I did not think it was a big deal, until it warmed up and kept dieing. Well, from what I was told is the car needs to know its temp (obviously) to cut fuel from cold start to warming up. So, it was flooding itself. Without the sensor (either not plugged in or broke) it will warm up then run like crap or not at all.

So, im guessing his guage in the car just sucks *** and real lazy (a 98). You never know, his thermostate could be stuck open and along with a lazy temp quage it will look like its not even hot.

I'll go take a look later on. I'm not too worried simply because I've been checking the level under the radiator cap and it's always been full.

LOL...

Are you talking about the coolant level?? Or the coolant temp?

The level just so I know it's not leaking or prone to overheating.
