Default Fuel Filter

Do I simply remove the filter and replace the new one, or must I releive pressure in the lines first?
When changing the fuel filter how tight do I tighten it?
Do I need to put something on the thread to prevent leaks?

I have a camaro and my buddie a ws...
Jack the car up and locate the filter.. the clamp over it is a pain to get off and on... unsrew your gas cap and I bleed the fuel rails also.. Hey make sure you have a cold block or your start a fire.... if any thing bleed into a rag or a container.... only one side of the filter screws and the other clamps in. Easy to do! I spend more time on the clamp and jacking up the car... lol

No rocket science to it! Take the old one off and replace it with the new one. I did infact take off the gas cap to keep the pressure down. I replaced mine with 25,xxx miles on it with a Wix filter noticed economy and throttle response.

Yeah its pretty easy, the shitty part is getting gas all over the garage floor. Its kind of expensive right now at $2 a gallon.

Disconnect battery, Open gas cap, Release pressure at fuel rail pop the filter off and the new one in and you are good to go. Turn the key without turning over the starter, to prime the lines, when you start it back up.

Yeah, it's not that hard. When you start it back up, turn the key from the off to the "run position" (don't start it) and back to off, 3 or 4 times, then go and check to make sure you don't have any leaks. Then your lines will also be primed for when you crank it up. Start car. Enjoy cold beer.

Do I need any sealant on the threaded side to stop possible leaks, or do I just tighten it up a bit?

DO NOT use any type of sealant, it will break down and plug your injectors. You do not need to "bleed" the lines, just pull the fuel pump relay and start the car, the pressure will go out through the engine and you dont have to worry about 2 diffrent puddles. And remember theres nothing like the feeling of gas as it runs down your armpit, down your stomach past your belt and puddles in your boots.

I used a catch can with a little dirt in it under the work area. No mess.
