Default Slow 1/8th Mile times

I took my car to the track for the first time last night. I am new to the FBody world, so maybe its just that I don't know the car very well. But I wasn't really impressed with my times. My best time was an 8.9 with a 2.1 60ft. From what I read 8.5 is about normal for a stockish car. My car only has an exhaust, and honestly I haven't even looked under there yet, I've only had it for two weeks. So it could even be just a different muffler for all I know.
It was a bit humid, so maybe it was just the track and conditions. I raced a mid 90s Viper R/T 10. It was running 8.5 @ 85mph, which I though seemed a little high. Also a brand new Challenger was running 8.1 @ 80mph. There was one Formula there, he may have been mildly modified (I saw a lid). He was running 8.7.

Awesome, I was hoping it was just me. I've never had a relatively fast Automatic car, so launching an automatic is new to me. Especially a RWD with bald tires.

bald tires might be hurting your sixty.... haha...

anyways.. put it in 3rd and rev it up to about 2200rpms and let it rip from there.. get some tires before any of that though!

no gu5 means you have 3.23's. and 8.1 at 80 mph sounds wayy off for the challenger. the e/t 8.1 is extremely fast for that car and 80 mph is way too low. somethings defiantly not right there.

but anyways 8.9 is about right on for a stock ls1.

Don't listen to this lemons guy, he's an idiot! jkjk hahaha

I actually ran my best time ever on some pretty bald kumhos and my 60' time was the best I ever got. You definitely need to stall it up before you start running because that'll put a little pressure on your rear end so there will be no kick(so no need to worry about your 10 bolt). Stalling it up will definitely bring that 60' down and get you way better times.

The only time I hate balds tires is on the street and in the rain

Sorry your right, I meant 9.1 but the 80mph is correct. It was an SRT-8 also.

Sounds about average for a stock car. Not fabulous, but not terrible. This time of year no one is going to be pulling great times anyway.

hahaha, I was just messing with you man. Your best time(8.4 if you haven't beaten that yet) is only a tenth faster than my best. My next time to the track I will match 8.4 or beat it. I was really having traction issues last time. I swear that underdrive pulley gives 80rwhp and like 60fwhp I got me some lca relocation brackets to help me out on that 1-2 shift where I did most of my spinning. I'm going to be moving to nashville here pretty soon. I'm going to try to get a track day for all my buddies and I'll keep you posted on it. I still gotta bust jimmy's ***!

Also this week I'm trying to get mine dynoed

How much do you weigh?

I weighed 135lbs when I got my car (still do now lol) I ran an 8.74 @84mph with a chokemaster on mine and that was it. Cant remember the 60' but it wasn't good. I also had the spare tire and stuff out to. If you weigh 250lbs then I can see you running that time in not so good weather.

60 ft could def. get you some better times. I had a 1.80 which sucks and ran 7.80 in a full exhaust and gear change car.
