oil change light
Help!! oil change light.. well i just got the oil changed over the weekend.. same local shop that did oil changes for me for 2 years on the s2000.. told them to put in 5 1/2 quarts.
this morning on the way to work.. i'm about half way down 1960 had been driving at least 10 minutes.. engine is nice and warm.. as i'm leaving a light decide to get on it in 2nd.. i stop at 5k rpm cause the car sounds unusually noisy. notice like 5 minutes later oil change light came on.. stopped at exxon got some mobil 1.. added half.. still oil change light.. add a lil more.. light goes away but noticed what looks like a lil oil like less then an ounce seeping from the top of one of the valve covers. wtf is going on!?!?
i'm going to take it into the dealership asap.. anyone have any idea what it could be.. also only noticble mod i have is MTI lid do you think the dealship will make a big deal about that?

Re: Help!! oil change light.. I dont think the dealership will make a big deal about the lid.Hell I went to get my drivers side window motor fixed with all my mods and they did it for free.So they shouldn't.

Re: Help!! oil change light.. don't worry about the oil change light. it's going off because the guys who did your oil change didn't reset it. consult your owner's manual on how to. sounds like you 've put 6 1/2 qts. in your engine which is too much. i use 6 qts. with the long filter. might want to drain some of that out before it starts leaking elsewhere.
Re: Help!! oil change light.. ok.. the oil pressure did drop low though before i added oil.. looked like it was sitting at 30.. instead of 40.. never saw it sit that low before.

The oil change light goes off every 3k miles. More
of a reminder than anything else. To reset it, turn
the key to the on position, not starting the engine...
and press and hold the trip odometer button. Give
it 3-5 seconds, and the oil change light will go
off.

Re: Help!! oil change light.. Hey man i work at a dealership, and used to work at a GM one also. One question is what kind of mods do you have that they can find by looking around. Also make sure your tire are in good shape and are no Nitto's. No rubber in fenderwell. U know make sure it doesnt appear you have been playing around. Other than that mods really dont matter as long are they are reasonable and it appears the car has been taken care of. U should be fine
