Default console lid spring popped off ?

And I can't seem to get it back on there. The forward hinge pin sticks out, which is where the spring was, but I can't see how the spring is held in there. The rear hinge pin doesn't extend far enough to keep the spring on. Anyone know how the spring is supposed to stay on there?

No, not the hatch. My hatch works fine. It is the spring for the console lid between the seats.

Pic? It sounds like maybe one of your spring ends broke off? You may check inside your console to see if you can find it.

I recall that the hinge and spring are integrated together. If so, you should still be able to get a new one from dealers or on-line suppliers.

I'll get a pic when I go out to my car tomorrow to go to work. Won't be able to post it until after work though.

I'm thinking the pin broke too, but I don't know how, and I can't find it. It isn't like there is a lot of stress on it.

Bumpitty...

My spring fell out yesterday, and I can't figure out how to put it back in. Can anyone give me a hand, maybe get a picture or two? Here's a pic of mine. I know the spring goes in the empty spot at the center of the hinge, but I can't tell how it attaches.

I found a "fix" for this but the issue comes back. See how the hinge pin on the right sticks out to hold the spring? Well the one on the left is supposed to stick out a little bit too, but it slid back in the hinge, allowing the spring to go flying. Pushing it back out with the spring in there works for a while, but then it slides back and the spring hits you in the face again.

I'm going to try putting the spring back in, sliding the pin forward again, and then putting some hard glue in the end of the hinge to keep the pin from sliding around.

These hinges and springs take a beating. My spring ended up breaking. You can buy the hinge unit separately. It will be easier to work with and will give you another 5+ years before you have to deal with it again.

Are they a dealer only item? How much do they cost, do you remember?

Thanks for the help, I got it back on. I think maybe a good fix would be to get a drop of solder into each end of the hinge to keep the pins from sliding out. I might try that later. Here's a pic of the spring in it's correct position if anyone needs a reference in the future.
