Default Steering click

When ever I turn my steering wheel more than say 20 degrees I get a clicking coming from the front of the car. any ideas on what it could be I know im not giving you much to work with but do you think maybe the rack and pinion are grinding, maybe dirt in there, could one of hte nuckles on the shaft need lubes(can you even lube them). I know nothing about this part of cars any help would be awsome.Btw it is all factory power steering for a 2000 z28

thank jim

is it a constant clicking, or just one click once you turn it?

Is it a click or a pop? A click could be the collapsible steering shafts. Nothing you could do about that really.

It not sure the diffrence maybe more of a pop, when I get the wheel at around 50-60 degrees there are about 3 clicks/pops in either direction of the wheel coming from the front under the hood of the car.

I don't think that is the steering shafts then.

maybe dirt or something got inside the rack and pinion, and its is in the imput shaft groves making it click, if it works anything like I think it does. but I might be wrong

When I turned left the front passenger side wheel would click. Replaced the hub assembly and no more clicking.

That sounds about right the last time I got one. 230 ish dollars. I would get a GM one though. I don't trust the aftermarket although the point that the "aftermarket" one might be an OEM sold under the original company. This might be true because who would have the tooling to make that part?

I didn't wouldn't take the chance though.

They aren't that hard to put in. Remember to have a chisel, flatbladed screwdriver, and hammer on hand to help you get the old hub out.

Use locktite for sure on those bolts.
