Default Can't get Prothane Motor Mounts to line up

I noticed both of the inserts are exactly the same. The tabs are in the same location. The factory mounts had the tabs on opposite sides (width wise). I can't flip the insert because then they will be offset. The tabs seem to be in the way of lining the bolt holes up. Is this a problem or am I not using a large enough pry bar to just force it in line. Any ideas?

I had the same problem, they were boxed worng. But I wnated to get my **** runing so just cut the offset off one side, and welded like 3 washed to the other to make the right, and left. I had 2 of the same insert.

That's what I feared. Thanks for the input. Anyone else have this issue? Did anyone try to contact Prothane to have them remedy this issue?

Thought of something. What if i just removed the tabs from the incorrect mount? From what I can see everything would just line up.

Don't remove the tabs...you need them for the mounts to serve their purpose. I think this is a pretty common problem from Prothane, so just call them or whoever you ordered them from and have them overnight you a new set.
You will need a huge prybar even with the right ones to get the bolts in. Once they are in, though, it's nice...far superior to the stockers.

Yes that is them. If you look at the stock rubber inserts there are these little tabs that protrude from the metal center section. They should be on opposing sides. On my prothane mounts the tabs are on the same side making it impossible to align anything.

Juat talked to my local speed shop where I ordered them. They will have another set in tomorrow so that we can compare them. Hopefully I can get this resolved quickly.

I don't recall the tab issue, but I do recall how tricky it was getting the last bolt through. I ground a point onto the thru-bolt, line the hole up with a drift, and then used a hammer to tap it through. It took a little patience and persuasion.

ya. I cut one side down, but left a tap at the top like stock. fits on my bmr kmember fine still, the other side is just like a 3/8 washer face. But 3 tabs hold the motor fine till the bolts are in.

Look at the alternate views. The tabs are shown on the same side on these mounts too. Is this correct?

Bump. I am installing my engine and the mounts are NOT lining up. I have one long bolt all the way through, but on the other side only about 1/2 of the bolt hole is visible. If the mount was inverted it looks like it would be about perfect. I am assuming I also need an inverted mount.

yes the tabs will be offset. they are two identical pieces and when they are flipped on opposite sides it makes the offset different. i was curious when installing mine as well but thats how they are supposed to be. stop cutting and welding motor mounts and see what the F the problem is.

Default mount

grind the ends down some where the bolt goes thru and a little off the tabs and they will go.

I did some last week.
One big bolt hole was about 1/2 a hole off. I just loosened the four bolts to the engine, put a alignment punch in one end of the hole and put the bolt in the other end and tapped it in.
At first the pass side bolt was not lining up and I couldn't reach it because I left the starter in, so I took the drivers side bolt out, shifted the engine around, slid the pass bolt in and had more room to work the drivers side bolt in.

The tabs were nowhere near touching anything=not in the way.

In the future look at the old inserts. They are identical, meaning not side specific. Same with the poly mounts.
